Beeswax is a by-product of honey harvesting. It is a natural wax produced by individual honey bees of the genus Apis. Beeswax has non-allergenic properties that can make it a useful skin protector from various airborne allergies. It also provides slight anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant qualities which can benefit the body. Each balm by Last Forest is blended with other natural flavours and oils to add to the health benefit of the balm.

Last Forest

Last Forest Enterprises was registered in 2010, incubated by Keystone Foundation, and is a social enterprise that has close links with its sister organisations: Aadhimalai and Nilgiri Natural History Society. These organisations together try to address issues of conservation, livelihoods and enterprise in a holistic manner

Our Work

Based in Kotagiri in the heart of Nilgiri mountains, we provide marketing solutions to primary producer groups and communities that are working on forest and agriculture produce which are natural, wild and local. We cater to the entire supply chain of procurement, quality check, brand, promote and sell organic, fair trade, and indigenous products. Here you can find honey, a range of beeswax products such as candles, soaps, and lip balms, spices, herbs, millet, coffee, essential oils and more. Last Forest procure our produce from over 45 groups across the country and sell through over 100 outlets including three retail shops in the Nilgiris that are owned by us. For this we work with more than 150 villages impacting thousands of people.

Our Vision

We help indigenous communities sustain themselves by empowering their skill sets and bringing economic growth for all families. By reinvesting 30% of our profit in community development, we ensure improvement of health and education and generate pride, dignity, and sustainable income for producers. We also have exchange programs within India in the NTFP (Non-Timber Forest Produce) sector to encourage collaboration with other similar organisations.

As the name suggests, we are an entirely nature-conscious, socially oriented organisation. We believe that the spirit of the forest is about thriving yet sustaining balance. It is about growth that is meaningful and contributing. We work on four key criteria, to be organic or fair trade, to support indigenous craft, to support or improve local biodiversity and to increase local employment and build local markets.
