Your Impact

By choosing this incense, you are being a responsible citizen and taking a step towards going zero-waste. You support the recycling of flower waste from temples and mosques which are dumped into our rivers and end up polluting them. Every product is free of charcoal and is handcrafted by women ‘flowercyclers’ who earn a safe, sustainable livelihood from their manufacture.

HelpUsGreen is the world’s first profitable and lean solution to the monumental ‘temple-waste’ problem. We have pioneered the ‘flowercycling®’ technology to preserve the Rivers Ganges from becoming a religious sewer by up-cycling temple flowers to luxurious organic products like incense sticks and cones. These products are handrolled by the 79 women flowercyclers working with us, helping empower them by providing alternative means of livelihood.

Many of our citizens still face discrimination on the basis of their caste and class. Helpusgreen supports a better livelihood for 79 such women who earlier used to be manual scavengers. By working with us, they not only get financial aid, but also a higher standard of living. From getting equipped with the basics like Adhaar card, PAN card, and bank account to learning how to use ATM cards, Life Insurance, and bus services, they get empowered in the spirit.

About 8 tonnes of flowers offered to the divine in Uttar Pradesh temples are dumped into the Ganges everyday. The pesticides used to grow these flowers pollutes the holy river which acts as the only means of drinking water for so 420 million Indian families. HelpUsGreen intervenes in this process and puts the flowers to use for a better purpose. We have offset more than 275.3 kgs of pesticide residue from entering the river so far.

Every stick of our incense is handcrafted, using only the purest and highest quality ingredients provided by nature. Abstaining from using charcoal or any other harmful chemicals in our products, we make them 100% organic. The fumes have no sulpher content, hence allowing our customers to breathe in a flawlessly soothing fragrance. Each ingredient used for making the stick offers a beneficial effect to the body, hence making it safe and healthy for all users.

Describe your products in three words.

Flowercycled Organic Incense

Sacred. Ethical. Humane

How did you come up with the idea for this product?

With what started as a sapling to protect Goddess Ganga, led from one thing to another. India being the homeland of devotees, the flowers raised in the name and for the deities is humongous and the orthodox practice of dumping the waste into the Ganges makes it un’holy’ and fatal for the acquatic and human life to survive. HelpUsGreen with its one of a kind Flowercycling®’ technology used these flowers and handicrafts them into charcoal-free incense, organic vermicompost and biodegradable packaging, all done from scratch by woman flowercylers® who were earlier underrepresented. Hence, not only aiming for a cleaner river Ganga but a more empowered one by supporting and providing daily means of livelihood to women.

What makes your product special?

Phool unique charcoal-free incense are an experience unlike any other incense. With 13 unique fragrances blended in an organic mix of temple flowers, milk, honey etc. and hand dipped in 100% natural essential oils. It aims at saving the Ganges and eradicating the practice of manual scavenging.

What has been the best part of your experience?

Our journey of converting waste flowers to happiness has been full of highs and lows. But it is the stories of change we see that have the proudest and yet the most humbling effect.

a) Helpusgreen® enabled Ms. Anita Devi, a so called” untouchable” to start the first Dalit beauty parlour in her village.

b) Our Women champions, 19 former Helpusgreen® SHG members have rented a pond in the village, multiplying their income 5 folds by fish farming.

c) Temple authorities want to be a part of our mission. Three Temples have banned flower offerings. Pointing to a change against a century old harmful practice.
